Some of the fishing games to play include live tournaments through PC software.  There you can win prizes such as tackle and what not.  I did take 3rd in my first tournament and I did get some free tackle….nothing big, but it’s better than not winning anything.

There are a lot of free playable fishing games online to play right now.  There are really two kinds of these online games; Individual and Community.

1) Individual – These are basically fishing game downloads available on a lot of websites on the Net.  But these individual games can be risky.  There are a lot of adwares and trojans that are on some of these free fishing game downloads, and the result can be costly.  You may want to use SiteAdvisor by McAfee to see if a site is known to have malicious downloads.  But because these games are free, you can download and start your free playable fishing games in just seconds.  But you’ll probably find yourself to bore quickly.

2) Community – Community fishing games are sites where you can login and start playing other players.  These games are often pay sites, at least for the good ones.  But more often then not you get what you pay for in life, and a good fishing game is one of them.  Get a game you like for your computer and see what types of communities are out there.  I spent quite a few nights playing bass fishing game tournaments with other players, and at times I did well and got some free tackle in the mail.  Hey, who’s going to not love rewards for playing games?  Not me.

Sega Bass Fishing for the Nintendo Wii is an interesting twist in bass fishing games.  I was a big fan of Super Black Bass for the Super Nintendo, so I was expecting big things for the Wii.  I can say the game is fun to play, I do find myself playing it often; but some things I find annoying.

First, I find it to be too easy.  The first time I played it, I won the tournament, sorry but I wasn’t that good and it should be a bit more challenging.  Second, there is no option to move around the lake.  You basically cast around a “stage” and you cast where you see the biggest fish shadows.  Sorry but I’m an avid bass fisherman myself and finding the fish is half the battle.  Unfortunately, Nintendo took half the challenge out of it.  Even the good old Super Nintendo offered the ability to move around in their bass fishing games.  Third, expect a sore wrist.  After awhile I had to quit playing because of discomfort, not cool.  And finally, there are some things that just don’t make sense.  Say you’re reeling in a spinnerbait “correctly”, it will say “Nice Reeling” or something like that but it never triggers fish.  Basically, you have to fish everything incorrectly to trigger fish, so it really isn’t like true fishing.

It is a great game for beginners.  Whenever my angler friends come over they want to play the game, and none of them have gotten bored yet so maybe I’m too picky.   But for me it seems more like a game you bring out every once in awhile but it doesn’t take up your time like some of the other games I own for the Wii.

Nintendo Wii Sega Bass Fishing Features:

However, I have play Sega Bass Fishing for the Nintendo Wii. If I’m going to offer reviews on Wii fishing games, this will be my first.

This bass fishing game parallels a long line of bass fishing games from previous gaming systems. The graphics have gotten better, there is a larger map, and it also offers more gaming options; but the drawback is the actual Wii style itself. After playing this game for a couple hours, you can get a sore wrist in a hurry. Now throwing thousands of casts is nothing new to me, from bass fishing to musky fishing, but it’s just not the same as the Wii console.

I was actually given this game from a buddy as in his words, “I got sick of it”. I probably played 3-4 sessions and on the last session is when I got a sore wrist. Makes you wonder if the Wii will someday be responsible for some cases of carpel tunnel syndrome, but that remains to be seen. To the games credit, it is fun and enjoyable. And by using the Wii console, it offers more realistic action to casting than just pressing a button in previous systems. So with that being said I will give this game a 6.5 out of 10.

Reviews on Wii Fishing Games

When I think back to one of the early bass fishing games that I actually played for more than 10 minutes, I think of Super Black Bass Fishing.  This was for the Super Nintendo (has it been that long?).  So many of the bass fishing games that have been created since are somewhat of a blueprint of that game.

I will admit, it’s been awhile since I played this game.  My Super Nintendo disappeared through one of my moves years back, so at this moment in time we’re still separated.  I do hope to reunite someday though.

I think you could’ve done the whole game with simply a crankbait or by sinking a spinner bait to the desired depth.  If you jiggled and worked the bait enough, the fish would eventually take it every time.  Then of course that was up to you.  They really tried to get the user to master the pull/tension on the line compared to the size of the fish.  Since it was a game it was way over done.  In real life the fisherman would beef up the line and use power to get the fish in when fishing tournaments, but hey…who said Hollywood or the game world was real life.

There was a lot of lakes to fish and areas to cover.  I do recall myself playing into the late hours on this one.  Just another one of those games that consumed part of my childhood.  Since I like the old school, I’m going to give this one an 8.5 out of 10.  Part of me wants to give it a 9 but the game will be too dated for some to enjoy.

Super Black Bass Fishing Game – Super Nintendo

Bass fishing is one of the top species pursued in the US, and following that is a WIDE variety of bass fishing games both on the Internet and on your PC.  It seems that everyone has their own game nowadays, and most companies are jumping in on the bass fishing game bandwagon and sponsoring new versions every year.
